Industrial Policy

Industries are divided into three sectors. They are,

• 1. Key Industries
• 2. Co-operative Industries
• 3. Private enterprises.

Key Industries - Industries which ensure the constant supply of raw materials to the co-operative industries and private enterprise have been included in the key industries such as power, steel, fertilizers, defence materials, oil, gas, cement, coal, machinery parts, heavy engineerings and petrochemicals. They must be run on ‘no profit, no loss basis’ and managed by local governments.

Co-operative Industries - All industries except key industries and private enterprises come under this category. They should be run by co-operatives.

Private Enterprises - All small enterprises like catering, general merchandise, laundry, tailoring, repairs, doctor, advocates etc. come under this category. They are owned and managed by individual entrepreneurs.
